Which LAPTOP for VIDEO EDITING? – Dell XPS 15

I just picked up a new computer (which is obviously listed in the title for SEO purposes 😛 ) so today we’re talking about why I chose it, and some other options you might look out for when getting a computer for video editing.

ALSO, i forgot to mention in the video – this is actually my second XPS 15. I got a bad unit on the first go-round, which left me a little bummed, but after exchanging it everything has been working perfectly. Such is life I suppose.

  2. Okay what do you think about the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 5579 9689 (15,6", i7-8590U, 16GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 620) It’s also convertable to tablet mode like the one you mentioned in the comments. Has anyone experience with that laptop?

  5. when you say it stutters with the effects is it full res playback? and is it on 4k? Does it stutter with a lot of effects on lower res like full hd? Or a lot of layers? Good video

  17. Hi Cody, just wanted to ask if there is any chance you could do a vid on your workflow/setup. I have just downsized from a full desktop PC to the XPS and just wanted to see how you have setup your drives with regards to scratch/media cache disk, RAW files and exports. Do you use the multiple external SSD or internal M.2 drive etc? any of you help would be much appreciated. Ps how you finding your new A7iii, very interested in get one myself. 🙂

  21. The reason why this laptop is expensive , it’s 4k Display Dude 😂😂 But I don’t know why I’m still love MacBook Pro 🤣

  22. Why you want the Alienware? My friend has it and it’s so huge that it’s not a laptop anymore, much better to buy a solid workstation. 2" it has decent processors but the same you can have in the XPS or better one in precision 5520. Graphiccard? I don’t know if its such an advantage for vidoegraphy. I guess 80% is the CPU.
    Get rather the precision 7520 with the highest specs than the alienware 🙂

  27. I edit videos and play some games.. I am looking for a laptop that looks like a gamer laptop but has great specs for video editing. Something that renders fast, and doesn’t heat up. My price range is about 1000…please help!

  28. I just bought a MacBook Air and use Davinci Resolve.. (free version) bit slow and laggy so I might sell it and get a MacBook ..it’s ok one project at a time… just hate how you can’t plug anything into them(apples) you have to buy all the apple adapters that go with them..

  43. I prefer HP Zbook 15-17 full quad core, the can be purchased real cheap "refurb" and are made for real work, nothing else.

  44. Also you clearly don’t know what you talking about when comparing with MBP. MBP GPU is much worse then XPS, so it’s not a "beast" as you "cool" kids these days say.

  47. Big tip for y’all with 4K monitors out there. If you’re working on intensive tasks, you can go into display settings and set it to 1920X1080 temporary and it will dramatically increase your computer speed!
