Ben, I love what you are trying to do, and applaud you for the high quality videos. The one thing I would suggest you improve upon is your general knowledge of EVs and the various charging protocols/adapters. For instance CCS is likely to overtake CHAdeMO in North America, because it has the backing of the SAE and US and European automakers. CHAdeMO on the other hand is primarily a Japanese automaker standard being pushed mostly by Nissan. Vehicle examples of CCS include the BMW i3 and Chevy Bolt, while the Nissan Leaf and Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV are examples of vehicles that can use CHAdeMO.
I like a longer video. I usually have them on my second screen while I’m working or gaming, and the longer the video, the less interruptions I have in what I’m doing 🙂
The numbers are great but can you slow down a little bit when you build mine? LOL
"small little cars that no many people really want anyways" You have no idea about what you are speaking when you say that, you know? In Europe, most cars are "small", especially around towns in which parking space is scarce, i.e. pretty much every town. Honestly, I don’t see the point of big expensive cars when you could have a small one adequate to your needs unless you spend, I don’t know, 20% of you time in your car or something.
Tesla will be the number 7 EV manufacturer in the world in a couple of years. Other manufacturers are gearing up for the assault on Tesla.
Ben…man you have to know that the truck pickup render was an inside joke. There is not even the smallest chance that the Pickup will look anything like that. Let it go man…just let it go =)
The M3OC talked about this and guest made a great point. If a pickup can fit in the bed of the truck, then its way too big to park in any normal parking spot.
More subjectively, it’s ugly.
BUT, just like they did with the S, the first pickup by Tesla will need to "Prove" itself. it will need to have crazy range, and be very ‘macho’. It basically needs to be a monster truck (but maybe the Tesla Semi does that?). But if the macho truck is a pickup, they will not sell many, so they need to plan on a smaller version. I suspect they ere going to try to release a version that can be the ‘pickup for everyone’ and range from a Ranger/Tundra/Colorado to an F250/Tacoma/Silverado by having crazy power and dynamic suspension in a smaller form factor.
A used model S that’s 5 years old at 70,000 miles is IMHO not preferable to a brand new Model 3 with ~0 miles. If both are the same price, which arguably they are (although in no way are there as many used Ses on the market as there are new 3s being delivered). From my perspective, I want to buy a car for use for the next 5 to 10 years and end up with a 5 to 10 year old car at the end, not a 15 year old car. I get it from your perspective though; you have a 2013 Model S and you are very happy with it, and wouldn’t trade it for a new Model 3. But that’s a different perspective; you’ve already got 5 years of use from your car. Us newbies looking to get a new car and choosing the 3 are not (IMHO) comparing with 5-year-old used cars as viable options.
My $0.02
Cheapest Tesla? What about our boy Rich Rebuilds?!
Even Bloomberg confirms the Model3 production numbers exceed 5000 consistently
Couple things, 1st, on Tesla’s website you can search nationwide for CPO… not sure why you decided to omit that… it’s as simple as checking the box that says include vehicles with a transport fee… I like Tesla Inventory but that’s not a difference… TI is great for seeing non CPO nationwide but both show nationwide CPO… also Tesla makes a ChadMo adapter, the M3 is just not currently supporting it but can with an OTA update, which according to my Tesla Rep will be coming by the end of the year…
I didn’t get a reservation email over here in Australia. I just checked my email.
quick comment, I would love to be a part of the live conversation but your time slot is in the middle of the work day and can not participate. Could you please schedule later in the day? or at the very least vary the times to ensure a wide coverage of participants.
reservation holder in germany, definitely no configuration invite. Also definitely no change on the tesla account. still says early 2019.
I got one… in red! Best car ever!
I checked but it seems that it’s only open for you in the US.
I live in South-Korea, ordered my model3 in June 2017 and the delivery still seems to be far far away…
Wow
Can you talk about how hot and how much sunshine gets in the interior, in M3 I live in fla and concerned . As you live in s Cal
Morning Ben, thanks for this information. I had been checking my email daily for notice about configuration from Tesla since my Model 3 delivery date was estimated to be sometime in the July to Sept. range..
Went on the Tesla site to my account after the viewing and sure enough, my car was ready to be configured! The estimated time of delivery was somewhere between Oct. and Dec. I placed my order, sent pictures of my driver’s license and the $2500.
My reservation was originally made 4/20/2016. I assume that not being a previous Tesla owner, I lacked the clout to be considered for earlier consideration.
I’m hoping that I’ll receive that VIN sooner than later!
Can’t help but notice news outlets reporting as "self imposed deadlines" now that it’s been met; whereas before, it was "missed deadlines!" Odd and sudden shift in language. Definitely nothing to it, right?
For the Tesla pickup truck has anyone considered that the Tesla pickup truck is in the bed of the bigger truck that looks like the simi
Glad you told me about the new SD downtown supercharger, it’s 5 min from me! Which is great since I don’t have the option of charging at my apartment:/
Personally I would’ve replied to the Ford CEO sayin "whats the point if you cant sell em? At least we have a +400k backlog..do you??"
ROFL, he would’ve hated that!!
Why are these videos so long?
@ben sullins. Yup Teslas superior battery temperature management makes Teslas battery longevity superior and makes old Model S a really great value at 50k levels.
Chademo adapters for Tesla do exist. I paid 450 for my model s
I re-subscribed not sure why but google unsubscribed me from a bunch of youtubers including you so had to re-sub.
Robert is not so fantastic – anti-Christian guy.
Enjoy your blogs! I do have a question about the 18" wheel from EVWHEELS Direct that you mentioned when you purchased yours. I have emailed them but no reply as yet to availability. Would you check it out please? Thanks……Bob
Hey Ben has anyone asked you if you have heard whispers of being able to upgrade Model 3 after purchase? I bought a Model 3 about a month ago – would love to upgrade to the AWD, why isn’t that an option??
the pickup is retarded. that thing couldn’t drive on public roads… too wide. I’m the one who replied to Musk’s tweet asking for a 90s Ranger/S-10 size truck.
How did you do $1,000 damage to your paint? And what kind of wash service did that – a regular car wash with brushes? A brushless wash? A wand wash?
BTW, as a Tesla analyst I also saw the bear claim that 25%+ of reservation holders cancelled based on a tiny survey. Tesla supporters pointed out they pretended there were zero new reservation holders. They didn’t change the math, so we knew months ago this was another fake bear thesis that attempts to scare longs into selling.
Guys it’s simple. Tesla is the only good electric car today. The other big guys isn’t even close to produce a car like the model S, X or now model 3.. Mercedes and BMW have the cash, but where is there cars? I haven’t seen a good competition that are even close. And that’s why Tesla will survive and become ONE of the biggest car company in the world. Not the only one, it will always be competition..
I want to say Ben I was super excited when I seen this news the other day. I put in my reservation 3 weeks ago and opened up my email I got from Tesla to configure my car. I was like holy crap it’s so real now. I was surprised because I thought that I would be waiting at least a year for my confirmation to be available. Boy was I wrong. Super excite to configure a dual motor Tesla. Thanks for always updating and sharing news with Tesla Ben.
Ambassador, I thought we are more like Teslarians. And if the Truck looks like that i will go back to being an Earthling and drive the Workhorse Truck.
The stock is tanking after this momentus mileus of 5000 cars in a 24 hour/ 7 day period. Now Captain Crunch wants to take one of his Magical James Bond underwater electric cars, go to Thailand and save this Soccer team trapped under miles of rock and under water. What could go wrong? Maybe Elon could get James bond actor to drive the car under water and save these poor kids? Cant wait to see the movie. Its all bread and circuses. I predict the stock will continue to fall due to the Emperor having No Clothes.
Tezzla….Pezzla.. It’s TeSla, there is an S in the name, not a Z. Holy crap this video is too long and you speak way to fast.
I got one… in red! Best car ever!
Ben – I was a model 3 reservation holder (July 2017). I saw info online about opening up ordering for the model 3 with a $2,500 deposit. So. I submitted the deposit on 6/29 and configured the car. Well, to my surprise, I got a customer rep call (Michelle)on 2 Jul saying I could schedule delivery of my model 3 on 7/21/18 at the Orlando store. Wow that was fast… so I’ve got everything lined up with financing and, also, schedule the car for detailing after delivery (paint protection and window tint). Thanks for your hints and currently Wash Mist is out of stock. Smokey S.
I live in Sweden and reserved in july 2017. I still can’t configure.
Actually arrived here via Robert Llewellyn’s channel. Comedy royalty (Red Dwarf) and EV/green energy – couldn’t ask for more.
No, they are not producing 5,000 Model 3s per week. They worked their people 12 hour shifts, 7 days a week, for one week, in order to produce 5,000 Model 3s. ‘Per week’ implies that they will be doing this continuously, week after week.
Why are you always so dishonest in every single one of your videos? All you’re doing here is shilling for Tesla.
Man, if ever you have insomnia, this video is the cure. I’ve listened to a metronome with more personality. That said, where is the mythical $35,000 model 3? Bet it will never be built. Just saying.
Ben, looking at the stock dropping again today I am more convinced than ever that Tesla in fact hold off the 200k delivery to July 1st… Have you hear anything about it?
I wish Tesla would come out with a bare-bones economy car before they come out with a pickup. 30-50k still isn’t affordable for a large section of the country.
I’m sure you appreciate that there may be huge churn in the queue of folks awaiting their model 3 without the total number reducing I.e. the reports of cancellations may be correct. Still it is a nice big number. Eat your heart out FMC. 🙂
I got one… in red! Best car ever!
Beeeeennnnn, you are killing me with these videos.. way too long. Split them somehow
Regarding TezLab… I’d prefer to just supply you with the API token instead of giving you my login credentials. If you’ll ad an option for advanced users to do so, then I’ll happily spread the word about the App to everyone I know/meet.
